I’m a Coach. I’m practicing active listening with a blend of curiosity to understand unspoken emotions in people, which are the root cause of their thought, belief, and action (or inaction).
In my journey as a corporate HR, I experienced that every person’s issue has a connection to who they are. Once Aristotle said, ‘Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Coaching helps unpack people’s emotions, feelings, assumptions, ideas, and beliefs. Using some thought-provoking questions, assessment tools, and exercises, I help people see their reflections. What I love about coaching is that it is not focused on a problem. Coaching conversation allows us to explore WHO the client is and what would be a suitable way to handle their issues. When a client decides for themselves, they feel empowered. Seeing people decide for themselves, solve their problems, and choose resources brings much satisfaction. It’s a fantastic feeling to be a coach.
Neuroscience fascinates me to see how it controls hormones, neural connections, emotions, and actions. During my coach training at The Academies, a neuroscience-based institute, I’ve experienced that an awareness of how our brain works can help our clients share positive energy that makes learning and growth possible. Renewal exercises can help people remember positive occurrences in their lives. With happy hormones learning, change becomes more accessible, and a quest for a transformational belief becomes possible.
‘What Got You Here Won’t Get You There’ [Goldsmith, Marshall, Reiter, Mark]. In every leadership role, new challenges require new skills and mindset. These are delicate moments. Opening to see the GAP, pulling all the energy to decide how to bridge the gap, and, most importantly, mentally getting ready to change can be easier with a partner. Assisting individuals as a coach and thinking partner on their path to personal and professional growth and achievement brings a great sense of fulfillment.
It was an incredible experience as a Documentation Consultant with UNICEF India with their flagship program ‘Behavioral Change Communication’ to witness and understand how education plays a pivotal role in building culture, mindset, and belief in different sectors of our societies. First job.
In my ten years of a Corporate HR role, I became convinced that knowing people is the only way to understand how they behave and operate. In search of facts and evidence, I started using MBTI (Myer-Brigg Type indicator), Thomas PPA profile, Behavioral Event Interview, etc.
Finally, my curiosity about behavioral science was answered when I joined The Academies Inc, a neuroscience-based coaching program. The last two years were phenomenal to see how Coaching can transform our challenges into an opportunity!
